Four attorneys from Farleigh Wada Witt were selected to present education breakout sessions at the 2008 Washington Credit Union League (WCUL) Convention scheduled for September 16-18, 2008, at the Hilton Vancouver Washington: Brian Witt, Michelle Holman Kerin, Michelle Bertolino, and Paul Migchelbrink.

08/01/08 - CUNA Technology Council Summit
Attorney and certified public accountant Clifford DeGroot will be presenting two breakout sessions at the 13th Annual Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Technology Council Summit on August 1, 2008, in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.

07/11/08 - 2008 Employment Law Update - The Tangled Web We Weave: Untangling Leave Laws
The Farleigh Wada Witt Employment Group, in conjunction with the Lower Columbia Human Resource Management Association, will present an Employment Law Update on July 11, 2008, at the Best Western Ocean View Resort, Seaside, Oregon.

06/24/08 - Death of a Member Webinar
Shareholder Brian Witt will present "Death of a Member Webinar" for the Washington Credit Union League on June 24, 2008. The webinar will address handling decedent member accounts, highlight the responsibilities for handling the account of a deceased member, and offer suggestions on how to eliminate the risk in dealing with these accounts.

06/11/08 - 2008 Employment Law Workshop - Generation HR
The Farleigh Wada Witt Employment Group, in conjunction with the Credit Union Association of Oregon (CUAO), will hold its annual Employment Law Workshop on June 11, 2008, at the Home Builders Association in Lake Oswego, Oregon. 

04/23/08 - Legal Update & Website/Advertising Compliance
Shareholders Brian Witt and Hal Scoggins will present a Legal Update and Website/Advertising Compliance seminar for the Credit Union Association of Oregon on April 23, 2008 in Tigard. The seminar will address recent legislative updates and regulatory changes that affect Oregon credit unions; including the maintenance of compliant credit union websites and the regulatory requirements of an ever-expanding field of advertising and marketing.

04/23/08 - 2008 PNSAA Operations and Maintenance Conference
Shareholder Brad Stanford will again be a panelist for the Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association (PNSAA) Operations and Maintenance Conference scheduled for April 22-24 in Leavenworth, Washington.

04/18/08 - 21st Annual Northwest Bankruptcy Institute
Peter McKittrick will be part of a panel discussing state receiverships, and Kathy Salyer will be participating in a panel discussion regarding claims asserted on behalf of borrowers related to mortgage loans at the 21st Annual Northwest Bankruptcy Institute scheduled for April 18-19, 2008, in Seattle. The Northwest Bankruptcy Institute provides the latest information in bankruptcy practice and is co-sponsored by the Debtor-Creditor Section of the Oregon State Bar Association and the Creditor-Debtor Section of the Washington State Bar Association.

03/01/08 - Association of Ski Defense Attorneys 2008 Conference
Shareholders Scott Farleigh and Brad Stanford will attend the Association of Ski Defense Attorneys (ASDA) Conference scheduled for March 1-4, 2008, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. Brad is the current President of ASDA and will open the conference, attend board and business meetings, and make final remarks at the conference banquet before handing off the presidential reins to the in-coming president.

02/11/08 - Western States Credit Union Volunteers Conference
Shareholder Michelle Kerin will present two breakout sessions at the Western States Credit Union Volunteers Conference scheduled for February 10-12, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Michelle’s topics include: Sarbanes-Oxley and Your Credit Union, and What Board Members Need to Know About Discrimination.

01/09/08 - CUNA Volunteer Institute - Mexico
Shareholder Karen Saul will present two breakout sessions at the Credit Union National Association's Volunteer Institute scheduled for January 5-9, 2008, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Karen’s topics include: Evaluating CEOs and the HR Angle for Directors, and Directors' Role When Complaints are Filed Against Senior Management.

12/06/07 - Council on Education in Management FMLA Update
Shareholder Michelle Kerin will moderate a two-day seminar on the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) for the Council on Education in Management on December 6-7. Farleigh Witt attorneys Karen Saul, Kim McGair and Chris Parnell will each present a segment at the seminar.

11/14/07 - Employment Law Seminars
Attorneys from Farleigh Witt's employment group will be presenting three employment law seminars on Wednesday, November 14: Oregon Employment Law Update for the Lower Columbia Human Resource Management Association; Employment Law Update for the Mid Willamette Human Resource Association; and Learning the Ropes - Employment Law for the Professional Liability Fund.

11/08/07 - Credit Union Association of Oregon Annual Convention
Shareholders Brian Witt and Hal Scoggins will present a Legal Update breakout session at the Credit Union Association of Oregon’s 71st Annual Convention & Business Meeting scheduled for November 8-9, 2007. They will address legislative updates and the latest regulatory changes that affect Oregon credit unions.

Shareholder Karen Saul will present two breakout sessions at the Credit Union National Association’s Volunteer Institute scheduled for October 20-24, 2007, in Honolulu, Hawaii: Basics of Discrimination & What Directors Need to Know, and Directors’ Role When Complaints are Filed Against Senior Management.

10/19/07 - Fundamentals of Oregon Civil Trial Practice CLE
Shareholder Kathy Salyer, whose practice specializes in complex commercial and consumer litigation, will be a panelist for the Oregon State Bar’s continuing legal education seminar “Fundamentals of Oregon Civil Trial Practice” scheduled for October 19-20, 2007, at the Oregon Convention Center.

04/29/07 - Cutters Camp for Ski Area Operators
Shareholder Brad Stanford will be a panelist at the Cutters Camp scheduled for April 29th through May 3rd at Timberline Lodge, Oregon. Brad will sit on a panel discussing ski area risk management.

04/25/07 - Pacific Northwest Ski Areas Association (PNSAA) Conference
Brad Stanford will be a panelist for the PNSAA Operations and Maintenance Conference April 25-27 at Timberline Lodge.  He will sit on panels discussing lift accident investigations and risk management.

03/03/07 - Association of Ski Defense Attorneys (ASDA) Conference
Scott Farleigh and Brad Stanford attended the ASDA Conference March 3-7.  ASDA is a national association that networks attorneys who specialize in the defense of ski areas. Brad organized this year's event, lined up prominent speakers to discuss the unique legal issues facing snow ski facilities, and became President at the conclusion of the conference.

11/03/06 - Astoria SHRM Chapter Presentation
Farleigh Witt attorneys Karen Saul, Michelle Kerin, Kim McGair, and Chris Parnell spoke at the Lower Columbia Human Resources Management Association's Chapter presentation entitled Employment Law in the Day-to-Day World of Small Business.

Karen Saul, a shareholder of Farleigh Witt whose practice emphasizes employment law, and Chris Parnell, an associate who is a member of the firm's Employment and Litigation practice groups, spoke at an HR conference presented by the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce in Newberg, Oregon.
